Last updated: When I started camping with my own kids, I bought a “6-person” tent that fit two adults and zero luggage. That mistake taught me what every parent eventually learns: the best camping tents for families are not the ones with the biggest advertised capacity. They are the ones that actually fit your crew, … Read more
I spent the last four months sleeping in backpacking tents across the Pacific Northwest, the Sierra Nevada, and the Utah desert to find the best backpacking tents worth your money in . Our team pitched 10 contenders on rainy ridge lines, dry slickrock, and alpine lakes at over 10,000 feet. After 38 nights, 14 thunderstorms, … Read more
I spent three weekends wrestling with traditional tent poles in a muddy state park before I bought my first instant pop-up tent. The difference was shocking: what took 25 exhausting minutes suddenly took 60 seconds, and I could do it solo without help. After that experience, I started hunting for the best instant pop-up tents … Read more
Last winter I spent 18 nights testing sleeping bags in the Colorado Rockies, with overnight lows dropping to -8F on a few of those trips. That moment is what the best telescopes for stargazing in are built to deliver, and our team spent the … Read more

I’ll never forget the round that made me buy my first golf rangefinder. I had a 145-yard shot to a pin tucked behind a bunker, guessed at the distance, and came up 12 yards short into the sand. That triple bogey cost me a skins match and pushed me into the world of laser rangefinders. … Read more
