I built my first hobby studio in a converted garage, and the lighting was the worst part. The overhead fixture was a single warm bulb that made every paint color look like a different shade than the tube it came out of. After three months of guessing wrong on color mixing, I started swapping bulbs, … Read more

If you have ever unloaded a car full of booth materials into a distant exhibit hall, you already know why collapsible wagons for hauling convention gear are not optional anymore. I spent six weeks hauling crates, banners, and gear between parking lots and trade show floors, and the right folding utility wagon turned three exhausting … Read more

I’ve spent the last 12 years hunched over building tables with LEGO bricks scattered in front of me, paint pots crowding my workspace, and dice rattling across the carpet during weekly D&D sessions. After burning through more hoodies than I want to admit, I finally figured out what makes the best hoodies for adult hobbyists … Read more

My grandmother Rose turned 82 last fall and handed me her reading glasses with a sigh. “Everything’s so tiny now,” she told me. As someone who journals, sketches, and crochets between writing sessions, I learned fast that not every lap desk is built for the same work. A flat board is great for a laptop but … Read more

Last year my mom handed back the novel she’d been reading because the print kept swimming on the page. The problem wasn’t the book. It was the single bare bulb hanging over her reading chair that made her 72-year-old eyes ache after ten minutes. We spent the following week testing every desk lamp, floor lamp, … Read more

When I started planning my daughter’s sixth birthday, I assumed any piñata would do. I was wrong. After watching a flimsy star piñata split open on the third swing and scatter candy under the fridge, I spent the next month testing pinatas with real kids at real parties. This guide covers the best pinatas for … Read more

I’ve been running RC cars on hobby tracks and backyards for over a decade, and nothing kills the fun faster than a battery that gives up after 10 minutes. That’s why I spent the last 60 days testing 8 of the most popular RC car batteries for runtime, punch, and durability across bashing, racing, and … Read more
